its a shame is it is so darn hard to get there from the UK now without flying... I also have a whole series of similar "overnating" campsite pictures! This one in particular looks rather familiar.... though I suspect it isn't, but was it around Skovballe on the Island of Tåsinge (Site 703 if it has not been renumbered?)

This was the site, not sure of the number, but the owner was a wind turbine engineer and there was a rather large one on the site. Beautiful location, and as you mention such a PITA to get back too now the ferry service from Harwich has stopped.

yep - that's the same site! If you look at the link I gave it is more or less in the same place! I think I have a GPS coordinate for the place, but that's getting a touch too ... what's the word...?

I think flying here with your bike has always been easier than taking the ferry, certainly a lot quicker.

You can get cheap flights with Ryanair and I think the bike is £100 return.

There are lots of those shelters in Denmark, if you know where they are. They are building them all the time.

Wow, all those pictures look amazing!

Thanks for all the replies everyone! It sounds like this part of the trip should be a breeze!

I'll definitely have to get the "overnatning i det fri" when I get to Denmark, that sounds incredibly useful!

Also, steveindenmark: we may do a short trip up to Skagen, but the reason we're ending in Hirtshals is because we're going to be taking a ferry from there up to Kristiansand (most likely).
