I saw Ginger Baker back in 1975 turing with the Baker Gurvitz Army.... The drum solo was intense and loud!

However what really made it was the way it was obviously something he was enjoying

Back to the OP and female singers.....The female singer I saw and liked in the 70's was Sonja Kristina and Curved air.

An Icoic ban that almost became an apprenticeship... All of SKY came through Curved Air, and she was married to Stewart Copeland for a while who also played with the band

My lasting memory (musically) was not a drum solo, but the (pretentious?) violin solo on "Vivaldi" by the wonderfully named Florian Pilkington-Miska

It varies in quality, but the later parts are better

... or real late night stuff after a few pints!
Gilli Smith (alias Shakti Yoni) and Gong

... and in this case still touring!

I saw Curved Air in York earlier this year. Sonja can still deliver the goods vocally but she is now broad of beam and having her butt thrust in your direction is no longer as alluring as it once was.

Florian Pilkington-Miska is still with the band and the violin solo is still as good as it ever was.
