I have done it few times, guess its not hearing nothing and you think the road is clear,GWS
That would have been me. The police were passing in a van just at the moment the collision occurred. Handy. And they called the ambulance, but to be honest the injuries looked more dramatic than they turned out to be. Ribs are very sore now, rest of it is healing already I think.Hope you heal soon. I probably rode straight past you - certainly there was a crowd of police and an ambulance doing something as I passed - outside the new shopping centre about 5:30?

The pedestrian called me today to apologise again and to give me his address to send the bill to for the new bike wheel. Actually, seemed like a nice genuine chap.
Working at home - hadn't planned to go into town today anyway. I did go out for a gentle ride yesterday just to see how I felt and other than a twinge in my quad, and the sore ribs, everything was fine. Mrs rb58 has imposed a week ban on cycling (which scuppers my plan to ride down to Exeter on Friday night) and I may yet go for an x-ray tomorrow if the chest doesn't start to ease overnight. But I know from last time I was taken out that a cracked rib (which is what it feels like) isn't something they can really treat. I doubt it's worse than that.Saw that on my way home glad your all ok GWS did you ride in today or you having a few days off ( wouldnt crit either)
It would very hard from him to say it was my fault in front of so many witnesses, at least 5 of whom were policeman!Interesting that the ped has admitted it was his fault and paid. From what I read on here sometimes, some would say it was your fault and the ped could sue you instead.
...which rather spoils the point of a cycle commute in a town, doesn't it?!(except riding at walking pace near busy pavements)
