Sorry to hear about your Dad, CP..

My own Father like most of his generation, was a heavy smoker from a young age. He had his first heart attack in 1959, aged 39 (before I was born). Continued to smoke, but not as much. Second heart attack came at age 46 when I was 4 years old. He then did the sensible thing and gave up the fags and then kept reasonable health until his passing at age 68..

Hopefully your Dad will be out and about in good health shortly, and will take steps to try and avoid any future health issues. Best wishes to him for a full recovery.

Sorry to hear your news CP. Yes, you do have this forum to "sound off" to, if it helps.

My dad had his first heart attack in his 40's, having been a long term smoker, and got through it. And this was some years ago, before stents and triple bypasses and the like. He survived and lived a good life for about 20 years thereafter.

Best wishes to you. Make sure you take good care of yourself right now, too.

Sorry to hear this news, sometimes it takes unfortunate things for people to change.
My own father smoked 50 a day for years and after falling very sick was asked by the doctor who is a family friend what flowers he liked as if he kept smoking we would soon be buying flowers for his funeral... My father gave up that moment, never ever smoked again.
He could not give up for financial reasons or because he knew it was bad for him, he gave up because he wanted to see his family grow, he wanted to see grand children............... The old bugger is 77 years old now and cycling as well.
Things like what you experiencing are often viewed negatively when it could in fact be the start of something positive. Only when you are at the bottom can you start to climb a hill.

Wish you both the very best.

I've been there too. Sounds so similar, mum and dad both heavy smokers and non exercisers.
Lost Mum to lung cancer when she was 55 (about 7 years ago) after she'd given up the ciggies about 4 or 5 years before. Then about two years ago Dad had a heart attack resulting in him having to have a triple bypass.
He's since made a full recovery, remarried and is enjoying retirement.

Best wishes and hoping your dad will make a good recovery. Hang in there bud!:hugs:

Hope it goes well for your Dad.

Parents are one of those things that we assume will be there forever, and it's a sledgehammer blow when that faith is threatened.
Take each day as it comes and just 'be there', it's all that's needed. Look after yourself :hugs:

Thats crap CP  . I lost my dad 16 years ago to the big c from smoking not good. Having only just given up recently myself i know how hard it is to "kick the weed". Hope all works out for CP Senior and he is soon back fighting fit.
