I dont really feel too bothered about your OP, but I do take issue with the "any other cyclist" bit. I can count the times on one hand that I've given a driver the finger in the 25+ years I've been road riding tbh. I've seen a few drivers giving others the finger, not as many cyclists though...

Our club has a specific policy against doing this. If you wave someone through and it goes wrong, this wave could apparently invalidate any insurance, and make you personally liable for anything resulting. Until I joined the club, I always waved people past. Now, I don't. Think carefully before doing it.

Never thought of it that way, as do it where it's safe ahead etc, but thinking of it logically, I'll stop.
