Erm, well the Stones were still quite good in the 70s, 80', 90's and noughties.

Been watching bits of the Reading Festival coverage (eldest daughter there). Aren't modern 'Indie' bands dull? Now watching bloc party... dull. The Artic f'in Monkeys were OK, but lacking their earlier fire, Prodigy were OK and the Kaiser Chiefs got the place rocking, but many of the other bands were boring. The fat lass and her band Gossip were good though, and Funeral for a Friend. Otherwiswe a lot of dross with weird names. BTW, I'm 47 years old.

Whack a Dr Feelgood platter on the old turntable and cheer yourself up!
Had a Youtube Feelgood/Wilco fest Friday Night actually. Was great stuff, really great non-nonsense hard as nails pub rock, hard and dirty. Greatly missed, at least I saw them at Exeter Uni in about 1980 ish.

Gonna settle back and watch Radiohead I think. Then maybe OD on Beta blockers and statins

Recently I've seen three bands who are supposed to be big news in concert on MTV:

Muse: tuneless, contentless rubbish but possibly technically proficient.
Billy Talent: how on earth did they get a recording contract?
Korn: it was really sad to see the lead guitarist trying to look like he was taking seriously what he was doing. Utter rubbish.

There must be something around at the moment which is new and good. But what ...?

Lately I've been listening to a band called Phosphorescent, and they're totally brilliant. Likewise another band called Calexico - both of these are well established but much better than the bland rubbish that passes for indie these days...
