Same roundabout and exit. Almost the same line (actually a little further out). Two cars approach behind. The outcome is very different. So what did I do different here? Almost nothing. What did the drivers do differently though.....

What I did notice was the car waiting to turn right across your path as you came off the roundabout... perhaps the following car(s) saw that too and hung back??

Two text book overtakes though. Oh but were all drivers like that!

Is that the car entering the roundabout you are talking about? If so, I had indicated to come off the roundabout, so there was no problem with him pulling out.

No, you've just come off the roundabout. There's a car, red I think, sitting in the hatched area at the end of the island - looks like it's waiting to pull across once you and the cars have passed - no indicator as I recall though.

No the entrance to the roundabout has two lanes and he is entering the outside second lane.

It does highlight though how tight the space is there, until I come around the corner, where I come across the second pinch point.

So do I, it means I've got to use an anonymous proxy server. ;).
It just reiterates the point that sometimes doing nothing different, things are fine yet on other days some moron reacts badly.

Aye and that is how it is 99% of the time, and yet I was at fault with the taxi driver....mmmmmm.

Ooooh, oooh, oooooh! I know what you did wrong, ooooh, ooooh, pick me sir, pick me....

Was it; you didn't give a cheery wave to the two cars that passed you?

I probably didn't! But I did give a thank you to the third car. It's actually quite rare for cars to hold back approaching the blind hump (oo-er!), so I was pleasantly surprised that they did.

Having looked at both clips it looks like you were going faster in the latest one, which could easily be the reason for the difference.

Nope. Wet and slightly slippy road so I was holding off this time as well. In fact comparing the time crossing the tarmac line at the roundabout exit, to the time I reach the second pinch point, it is exactly the same. 10 seconds.

No the only difference here was the patience and consideration of the following cars.

Ah, so they are. I've just re-watched it. Odd though, they are almost crossing into your lane to do so. Just keen to get on I guess! It looked for all the world to me like a car intending to cross in front of you... probably due to the angles into/off the roundabout.
