This left me feeling deeply uncomfortable. It's a difficult junction almost always with impatient motorists wanting to turn across the major road.

I don't normally like to touch vehicles, but I couldn't stop myself this time, I thought I was going to be punted sideways and so did a breakfall on the bonnet.

It really bugs me when people edge out like that. Makes them very difficult to read what they are going to do.

And if you protest by calling out (i.e. using voice in place of a car's horn) or holding hand up to say 'please stop' you usually get a lot of mouthing and gesticulating. Presumably along the lines of 'course I wasn't going to run you over sir, do i look like a fool?', completely ignorant of the fact it's difficult if not impossible to tell the difference between an 'impatient edger' and a ' look but failed to see'. And the edger sometimes thinks they're leaving you room but are actually moving across your ideal line, e.g. at RAB where you're moving back to the left side for the next exit.

I hate it when you approach a car coming the other way waiting to turn right and they edge forwards, I often feather the brakes cos I haven't a clue if they've seen me. Creeping Grandma's Footsteps muppets.

It is a very common occurrence.

Just had a similar on my short commute home for lunch, a WVM joining a RAB looked like he was going to drive straight onto the RAB despite the presence of myself and several other vehicles.
Fortunately he woke up, braked really hard and stopped, although the front of the van was over the give way line, right where a gutter cyclist would be positioned.

You were fortunate not to come a proper cropper there - keeping an eye on the black Corsa thinking about left hooking you, you might easily have missed seeing the silver one. Good skills and exceptional self-control there - as always.

He's creeping out, creeping out, you have the car alongside about to left hook you. Not much you can do there. Nobody wants to strike a car but to me that looked like a reflex act of self-preservation.

Oh and I miss breakfalls.

One of my biggest commuting/cycling bugbears.

Just stop at the friggin' line and stay there....it's not hard to do.

Yes! Finally someone gets it! I hate cars that stop at the line and then slowly roll forward. I had a guy stall at the line and his car jerked forward into the road - handbrake please!

Seems to be happening more and more. Just tonight I was turning right from major into minor. As usual I was lit up like a Christmas tree, but a taxi driver (usually courteous round here I have to say) continued pulling out of the minor into major, forcing me to move to the left before I could turn right "around" him.

He saw me, he just couldn't be bothered to stop. I think this is common to many of these incidents.

The roll forward/wheels start moving as you approach thing bugs me as well worst is at roundabouts when you are looking to come off and they want to come on.

You only have to have had one incident where someone pulls out on you (which is how I got knocked off in my only biking collision) and you are extra wary every time.

I have never felt the need to hit out at a car before. And I hope I never will. There needs to be a special circumstance where I actually have the time and the danger to need to do so.
