I am planning to go on a longer tour this summer and therefore need some kind of stove.

I want something that is fairly lightweight, works with readily available fuels and is powerful enough to boil a pot of soup.

I have read a number of good reviews for the NOVA Multifuel.

Has anybody used this stove for longer tours and can recommend it?

In Backpacking circles a guy called Chris Townsend is a well-known "Guru"/writer/reviewer on lightweight camping equipment both here and in the US. He is a huge fan of the Nova and you should be able to get some of his reviews/articles of it on Google.

Do you mean the Optimus Nova stove: http://www.optimus.se/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=32

There's a review of it here: http://www.backpackgeartest.org/rev...ition Stove/Owner Review by Thomas Lindemuth/

Its meant to be one of the best and easiest to use multifuel stoves there is, and some reckon it better than the newer Optimus Nova+ http://www.optimus.se/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=33 , as the remote fuel control on this is less responsive and possibly less reliable.

There's a useful review of the Nova+ here: http://www.backpackgeartest.org/rev...ova White Gas Stove/Test Report by S. Nelson/

One great thing about the Optimus Nova is that you don't need to change the jet to cope with different fuels (unlike with the Primus Omnifuel) and it has a neat magnetic jet cleaner thing. On the downside, you can't use it with LP gas, like you can with the Omnifuel, though the Omnifuel isn't great with LP gas (or are many multifuel stoves), as you really need a head with smaller holes for a gas stove to work efficiently.

There's also a Trangia adaptor for the Optimus Nova/Nova+, which may be of interest: http://www.venturesport.co.uk/venturesport_product.asp?parseid=11670

For the record, I use an gas powered MSR Windpro most of the time, for ease of use, but would use the Optimus Nova in touring areas where getting gas is problematic.
