Can you mix and match any of the rims and hubs you want rather than picking a specific wheelset ?

Yep, David @ DCR will advise you what is available and what is best for the type of bike/riding you do. Everything on my wheels was chosen by me.

Silver 24h Novatech Hubs
Silver Sapim Laser Spokes
Silver Velocity V Deep 30 Rims
With tyres & tubes they weigh a tad over 1700gm's

Oh right I will have to get in touch with him then.

Just looking at what is available I quite fancy the Nova Tech Hubs and the Mavic Open Pro rims but I will have to see what he says.

Have you had any problems with them needed re-truing ?

I bought some wheels last Sept they were only £104 and only meant as a stop gap as I was going to sell the Secteur Elite and they need re-truing again, that will be the second time. I have since decided to keep the bike so I think I will get some better wheels and use these for winter.

They cost just a few quid over £300. So imvho they are a bargain for handmade wheels, to my specs.

Well that's what I thought.

I was going to go to Spa Cycles as they are only across town from me, but there isn't much choice of hubs and rims and they seem to be more aimed at the touring cyclists.

I will give him a call and see what he has in my budget range probably around the £200 - £250 mark.

Thank you for the info

You should be able to get a nice set for that money.
Mine included lightweight spokes and nipples which added and extra few quid.

Your wheels would be about 1.2kg - for £300? I doubt it.

The Velocity deep rim are about 520g each 1040g a pair.
Novatech hubs (if they are the standard 171 and 172) then about 380g a pair.
48 race spokes about 290g
Rim tape about 15g each

The tyres let's say 200g each
Tubes let's say 85g each unless you use latex tubes in which case 50g each.

Just weighed them again, this time with the cassette. 1900gms the pair.
