Yet another British firm sells out to a foreign country, this time America. I know that business is business and it was only a few years ago that Cadbury took over Green and Blacks chocolate firm, but it won't be long before there will be just a couple of huge conglomerates running the world.

Once again the Daily Mash has its own unique perspective on the event.

Link to the Mash's article probably NOT work safe but it is funny.

Includes (safe bit):-

"She added: "Take, for instance, the Kraft cheese single. Over the years it has been used to tile abattoirs and add a playful dash of colour to greyish-brown discs of highly-processed cat gristle.

"And if you place one on a slice of bread and put it under the grill, it develops this delightful skin, accompanied by lots of little beige blisters.

"I imagine it's what toasted cheese would look like if it had bubonic plague.""

Superb! Another good bit for those with internet police at work:

"The key thing to remember about American food is that it's not food. Much of it is made from oil-based plastics, volcanic sand and the run-off from copper mines.

It will be interesting to see what happens when these elements are combined with a glass and a half of full cream milk."

Here for rides.
they sold out donkey's years ago. Heck, the company officers were being sued by shareholders in the states for rejecting the earlier offer.

A glass and a half of full cream greed tastes good to some people

Dailysmash has it spot on. I work for a US company and we get lots of well meaning visitors bringing over those bages of chocolate drops - they truly do taste like crap, and I don't mean 'like' crap but actual crap. Can I make that any clearer?
Disgusting.
If they alter UK ingredients to more closely resemble US chocolate then without doubt sales will fall, which is why I think it won't happen.

I've always found Hershey choc. tastes more like sick than crap, but maybe that's just me.

That's because it is made with sour milk. Suck it, don't eat it, it's rather lovely if you do that.

Come to think of it, you're right, it is like sick. I was thinking of another US chocolate product.
This isn't getting any better, is it?

I sometimes get the train from Redditch to Birmingham. One of the stops is Bournville, for the Cadbury's factory. Three or four stops before is Longbridge, a previous example of a foreign buyout of a British brand, it's now a desolate wasteland that nobody wants to build on.
