I'm in Gothenburg, and the hotel has bicycles parked in the lobby which the guests can borrow free of charge. :-)

I found a place in the States - LA even. You just asked for a key to unlock the bike. That was a long time ago now (mid 90's). The bikes were big heavy clunkers but I did get a 10 miler done
