Sadly not on my commute... One of the main roads to town is closed in one direction for the summer holidays for gas main replacement and resurfacing. The diversion is along my route to work!

I never notice any difference in traffic. Most people here either walk the kids to the local nursery / primary school (seriously, comes of being in an EU Objective 1 area I suppose, quite a lot of "Stay at home" mums that can't drive), or the kids get the bus to the nearby secondary schools. None of this namby pamby drive the kids to school lark. Latch key kids the lot of 'em ;)

No.

About a third of my journey to work is along a main route to the coast. It's always busier during the holidays, particularly on sunny days.

Some days the weight of traffic brings it down from 60+ mph to a crawl or stationary. It's nice to overtake it all then.

That sounds so nice... the pinciple that people walk to school as its local. In a city the gap between schools mean that you are rarely more than 1 mile (usually less) from your primary school and yet from the school travel plan I think about half get dropped off by car.

And school broke up yesterday so we haven't had time to notice a difference.

I had to drive to the doctors this morning. My occasional 30 min drive through heavy Edinburgh traffic was so easy this morning - spent additional time in the waiting room.
