Seems like it's always raining outside when I get back from work and I have no place indoors (bathroom is verboten), bike is in severe need of a clean and fettle as the last few rides have been muddy as.

Anyone else have this problem and have any creative solutions?

Yes, I also have no outdoor covered space to clean my bike. Usually it's the commuting Brompton I need to clean so I just hope for good weather, which explains why its so dirty most of the time.

Oh, and I have no garage or space in the shed either.

I have sort of the same problem, but no real solution. My bike is kept in the garage, however that is not connected to my house (it's in a block of other garages about 100 yards away) and that is the only place I can realistically clean it. Except there's no light in there unless I keep the garage door open and no source of water without traipsing back to the house. When I get back from a ride (especially if I'm cold and wet), I just want to lock the bike up and get back in the house ASAP and while I could go back out to clean it later in the day, I've normally got a good excuse not to by then - like eating food and watching TV in the warm!

My bike is in the utility room (narrow corridor) there's no way it's getting cleaned in there.

"MTFU and do it in the rain?" best option so far.

A bit of grime is not going to make your bike disintegrate.
