Do you think Sizewell C mini twin nuclear reactor power station will start to be built. Not sure anything is signed yet. They might pull the plug on it.

Yeah, itll get built, but the retail cost of the electricity it produces will be outweighed by its construction, maintenance and dismantling is my guess.

theyve destroyed half the countryside near it, so yes its getting built come whatever.

for avoidance of doubt, I dont have a problem with nuclear power being built near me, I do have a problem with unnecessary destruction of local habitats to accommodate far more construction than is necessary to build a nuclear power station.

It’s a long project. Hinckley fell years behind. Sizewell will probably be behind too.

With an designed lifespan of 50-60 years. It doesnt sound a very sensible proposition commercially.

Even strategically its of questionable value. In peacetime it brings generation capacity online that is independent of weether conditions, but at time of conflict its a sitting duck in every way.

That is actually the point they were making.

We have the proof of concept already.
But to say all balloons will be lead balloons, because someone managed to make a working one, is mis-leading.
The lead balloon came along well after the balloon had been flown all around the world.

Scaling up the balloon for commercial flight has already been done. It's now almost a relic of the aviation world, despite one or two companies using them again.

There's a link in the piece.

You are missing the point that better technology made an older one all but obsolete. Meaning very little investment in that technology. And all because something new came along.
