Yep. Dhb are very good for the money... Make sure you get bib shorts/tights rather than just the standard. If you ever try non-bib shorts after having bib shorts and vice versa you'll see why

Are you male or female?

Charge spoons utterly changed my comfort levels when cycling, and the great thing about them is that there always seem to be on sale for just over a tenner here on CycleChat!

I haven't had a bad experience with the padded shorts I've bought: Ground Effect, Corinne Dennis and Lidl have all worked fine on the bike. Although the chamois in the Lidl bib tights isn't the best at following my body contours when off the bike.

Assuming you're a bloke - I have had this, including with a Charge Spoon.

It has always been saddle adjustment and I've always beaten it eventually. Up/Down Forward/backwards, Tilt.

For some people padding makes it better, for some worse.

Once right the Spoon is good for me for 30 miles. My other saddle cost twice as much and is good for 80 miles, that's a Brooks but you'd need to be sure it'll suit you before buying so I'd suggest trying a Spoon.

I'm a bloke, the name's a bit effeminate as I came up with it when I was about 13 xD It's fairly unique so I like it (my actual name is Tom  )

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll look into getting some shorts and also looking forward to trying the saddle that Banjo's so kindly donated.

Apologies for the bump, but when should I start to get worried if the numbness doesn't go away? It's still partially numb coming up to 36 hours later

Hi Tom,

Any update? Mine didn't last that long - in fact a few minutes of cycling sympathetically meant all feeling was back by the end of the ride. I don't feel qualified or experienced enough with this issue to reassure you that it will be fine, or potentially concern you by suggesting you go to the doctor, but I suppose at the end of the day, you know your own body best and even though I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, if you are concerned, then there's no harm done by making a GP appointment and getting some professional advice for your (and now our) peace of mind

Seems a bit better now thanks. How much do people think I should spend on bib shorts if I do about 100 miles? Looking at Endura FS260 which look really nice but they're £67. Opinions?

Also I've measured myself and I'm a 36", but would it still be better to try them in person before splashing out? I'm feeling a trip to Evans in MK might be in order all of a sudden...

No need to spend that much... obviously spend as much as you can afford, but these look an pretty good for half the price. There's a size guide on the website... Large should be fine, but the returns service from Wiggle is great.

You should get a bargain on shorts at this time of year.

Are you really buying shorts in November though?!

I've done more than 100 miles in my forty quid Cycle Chat bib shorts and they were lovely.

Usually I get too hot by the time I get where I'm going whatever the weather. Temped to buy those ones you linked me too however I like the rear pocket on the Endura ones  I'm very tempted to get the Endura ones still. I also think they look a tiny bit better, as I'm vain like that

Where can I have a look at/ buy the Cycle Chat shorts?

Thanks.

Fair enough! I have the aeron pro version of the ones I linked you to. They're a similar price to the Endura ones, but still no pocket! I have plenty of pockets in my jersey anyway

I suggested a cheaper pair because they're your first ones, and you may not get on with them.

If money's no object, look at the assos. Pricey but they'll last for years...

That time for the numbness to wear off seems very long - never been that long for me. Know who I'd be off to see if it lasts much longer.

Don't fixate on the saddle to the exclusion of other possibilities, you make contact with the bike at bars and pedals too. `With what sounds like pretty significant time lag in getting better you may be worthwhile investing in a bike fit or at least being ready to experiment with combinations of bar height/reach, tweaking your saddle height as well as angle or maybe even different length cranks to be sure you sit nicely and firmly on your bike without rolling or sliding.

A long time a go in a city far far away, a lad that cycled big distances used to quite happily tell us all how he'd have to massage his penile numbness into submission mid ride. (and no he didn't go onto jingly jangly jewelery)
