With my two young adult children at home I will be sober and Dad's taxi tonight or more accurately taxi in the early hours of tomorrow. Hopefully neither will get too inebriated.

Why does not going to a pub for a drink make people miserable?
Doesn't make someone miserable and there is a lot of pressure to have enforced fun...which is crap...but I do believe that its healthy to celebrate a traditional event like this with people that you love...just like birthdays.

I know there may be a time...one day...when I wont be able to spend time with friends...so make the most of it whilst we are are all still able.

Celebrations which tend to take place around a drinking establishment. I've been "sober" for nearly 7 years yet some of the company I once kept (even in cycling circles) didn't understand the importance of this. I was to "enjoy myself" and get pissed along with them,

Not happening :stop:

As a (mostly) non drinker it seriously annoys me that most people assume you can't enjoy yourself unless you get drunk and try to force you to drink.

This thread is an interesting contrast to the thread a week or so ago when CCers were posting pics of considerable quantities of alcohol which they iintended to consume over Christmas and Boxing Day.

Just as well tonight is a celebration so they can "top-up" at great expense

CC seems to be full of miserable feckers....or maybe a thread like this self selects?

Out with friends to a nice pub for a few drinkies. Then back to ours for some bits and bobs to eat. Watch Jools, have a laugh, go to bed

Bear in mind there are a lot of old feckers here.

NYE lost all meaning once we had kids. It's nice to know that other people are out having fun though.

I'll be watching Jools alone with a bottle of red again, remembering some of the past NYE madness ;)

Its just another new year, I've seen over 60 of them, I used to celebrate when I was a teenager, now its just another one rolling past.
