Forgot that Oasis are playing at Murrayfield and had quite an experience coming through Roseburn Park. Every schemie, ned, ASBO-kid, middle-aged slapper and ne'er-do-well from Edinburgh & Glasgow were there. I could smell the booze and hash from a mile off ! It was a Buckfast & lager frenzy, with most of them utterly guttered at the back of 4pm.
Of course, I was greeted by a never-ending stream of total abuse. "Rucksack WA*KER !!" was a favourite; obviously too drunk to spot the bike..
That was the most polite; the rest consisted of the C-word and other choice phrases. Funnily enough, no-one within the immediate crowd around me shouted any abuse. Obviously not THAT brave at close range. However, I gave the abusers a cheery wave and a smile (as the finger may have resulted in me being set upon by crowds rather than one ned).
Just as I was managing to get out the park behind a council rubbish truck, an orange-faced, well-p*ssed, middle-aged slapper in a pink cowboy hat was loudly trying to drag a spotty yoof off for a sh@g in one of the Portaloos. "C'mon doll, we'll dae it in there - bit we'll hae tae wait in the queue afore we kin get in !"
If only I'd had my camera on tonight....
Think I'll re-route tomorrow to avoid tomorrow's selection of lowlife for the 2nd show.
