Obama gets the Nobel peace prize! He's been in the job about a year and has hardly done anything. In fact they nominated him for it when he'd only been in the job two weeks!

That's the Nobel prize lost all credibility then...

I think it lost credibility years ago when they gave to Henry Kissinger - "To give food to a country just because it's people are starving is a very poor reason"

There will be people who will say this is a marvellous, inspired, award. But next year let's give it to Miss World. Every year Miss World comes on and says I want world peace and the world free of nuclear weapons. It's a hope, an aspiration. This is a Nobel Peace Prize for not being George Bush. And I think it has been devalued.

;)

Too soon isn't it? I don't doubt Obama's aims and intentions for 'world peace'... but lets give him more time to see if he can produce something tangible THEN give him the prize.

I always thought that P&L had more of a left leaning, so presume is is actually <---- that way. ;)
Interesting perception of P&L! I always had it as predominantly a fuggy hangout for the right-wing yahoos and a few bare-knuckle lefties who enjoy a bit of Thatcherite rough.

Obama Nobel Prize winner

I think it is a good thing Obama has won the Nobel Prize, ideally he would have got it at the end of his first term as that would have been better timed and people would find it easier to reflect upon the good that he had done.

However, it certainly makes a lot more sense to award Obama than many of the previous winners, most noticeably Al Gore.

Good on him!

As an habitue I have to say that there is IMO a genuine camaraderie there although I suppose it can look a bit grim to somebody who casually wanders in.
