But then again, my wife says she knows exactly how it feels to have a big build up only for it to be over in 30 sec with a bang. I'm not sure what she means by that???????

You could imagine the organisers' faces (or at least the one who started them off) when it dawned on them what was happening.

The Scottish side of my family live in Oban and the surrounding area so I'll have to find out if any of them were there.

I had the vague misfortune of being at the one at Glasgow Green last night, and at the count down, they had a little boy to push down a plunger, supposedly to start the fireworks.

Except that he couldn't push it down.
The fireworks, obviously timed beforehand went off anyway, leaving a confused boy standing there to look on.

I imagine part of his childhood innocence died at that moment.

In a way its a shame that it didn't go as planned... but I'd quite like to have been there. The noise, the light, the atmosphere when that happened must have been pretty amazing.
