Graeme Obree's at it again (link) only this time he's having a crack and the land speed record. At least the UCI can't ban him this time.

I look forward to the attempt. I'd love to see a successful outcome.

Good luck to him I hope he breaks the record, but does anyone else find the press references to an old washing machine part tedius to say the least? I think most people of a practical bent have a box of odd shaped bits and pieces just waiting to become vital components in some new gadget.

Well quite. It was just a source for a thin bearing IIRC.
I don't know if he'll manage 100 mph but fair play for trying to!!!

I agree about the tediousness of the washing machine part.
As far as 100mph goes, I wouldn't bet against him.
God speed, Graeme Obree!

Interesting position, I believe the norm for the bicycles going for that sort of speed is the standard recumbent position.
I wonder what it will look like with the skin on it.

The prone position has certainly bindun, but I think the standard (insofar as any of this is standard!!) recumbent position is more widely used.
Like I said, respect to Graeme for aiming for the ton. I'd love to see him do it.
It doesn't seem that long ago that 55 mph was the target...
