Nice idea doing the two parts...give you less criticism for "not noticing" something really "obvious".

Terrible driving...but checking your blind spot is just, soo uncool and takes sooo much effort so no one does.

Why do you look down? You are rding along the road-not into it.

It's just a glance. I'm pretty sure it was because I noticed a new seam in the tarmac, and I just glanced at it.

Of course, you show me a driver, cyclist, pedestrian that doesn't glance away from time to time and I will prostrate myself at their feet and rejoice in their greatness!

My point is that this is how the majority of accidents happen. People losing concerntration and ''glancing'' away. You could and would have seen that car start to pull out earlier if your head had been up.

Oh I don't dispute that at all. But it is impossible to ride and not glance from time to time. I don't think I should be criticised for a moments glance away. Had an accident happened, it would not have been my fault, but the drivers.

Its the same as looking over your shoulder to make a move, if someone pulls into you while doing this its still the drivers fault. You cant be looking eveywhere at the same time, so rules of the road come into play.

When I've watched over my videos over I look down...a lot of the time just checking my gears (I should know what I'm in but still do it ). I think it's just a natural habit.

I'd better not post my videos when I start doing them again - I seem to look down quite frequently too. No idea why - I didn't even know I was doing it until I watched my first commute video.

Worse in the summer on the off-road paths, as I have to tilt my head down to take a breath without inhaling a squadron of those wee flies that hang around in massed numbers beneath trees.
