One of the chaps I work with rides an old Dawes roadster. I noticed the other day, his back wheel was a bit out of true.

Today, he arrived with a flat tyre - he'd noticed halfway to work, but it got him there. He set about fixing it this afternoon, and called me over to see... the total crack through the rim. I don't mean just a visible crack, I mean the two edges could be moved relative to each other.

Then he pinched pairs of spokes together. I think about half were actually connected.... He said when he corners, it sort of flexes!

But he'd fixed the puncture, so he put it all back together and rode off home!;)

He does think he'll need a new wheel. But apparently he found the bike in the first place, next to the road with a note on it saying free to a good home, so he got off the bike he was riding, stuck the note on that, and took the Dawes!

If it was anything like the state of this one, it's probably not worth it.;)

The volunteers found a burnt out and long rusted moped frame on the reserve today, I made people laugh by suggesting it just needed a bit of WD40...

I think I have OCD. I'm obsessed with order (even if things look a mess to others), numbers and washing me hands. ;)

Anyway, was riding out of work last summer behind another employee. No idea who he was but he got on a BSO and was riding out in front of me. The back wheel was so buckled it rubbed against the rear stays. I was so shocked I tried to say "I dont think its worth riding that, its knackered" but he just rode off oblivious.

We have a guy at work who rides a Carrera racing bike everyday,23mm tyres I think and they are permanently soft(would guess 50-60lbs) if I mention anything about his bike he always says 'it's going back to Halfords soon for a service' and that's it.His saddle is so low it must be painful,it hurts me to watch him ride it like this but I have tried advising but he's not interested tbh.

I passed a rider on a local steep hill last year who was riding a bike so visibly rusty I am surprised it even moved. Chain, cogs and rim were all orange with rust... a bit of oil and she'd double her speed...
