Couldn't come in on the bike today as my daughter was keen to come in to help me out with some accounts stuff - weird, but who am I to argue? I hate it. Anyway, it's absolutely *foul* out there at the moment - heavy driving sleet. I wouldn't say I'm exactly looking forward to the tube, but I can't say I'm that sorry not to be cycling for once.

Yep,
going to be an interesting commute home. No back roads tonight, will stick to the main ones. See how I get on and worse come to the worse have to jump on the train

Its looking pretty evil in W4 Ian. I'm thinking about kipping down at the office. Wife's birthday tomorrow, so really don't want to wake up anywhere other than next to her, but I think there's a pretty big risk to life and limb right now. Settling fast.

It's settling fast in SE14, we're going away in the morning so I'm off the bike until after Christmas now.

Good luck and go safe all of you trying to bike it home tonight.
I managed to hit a patch of ice on a speed bump this afternoon and took a slow tumble, thankfully I saw it just in time so was able to unclip and control the fall!

A bruised a*se, calf and the bike and I took a small slide along the road to the amazement of passers by.;)

Couple of inches of snow and gridlock in S London on the way home. Only one snowball lobbed at me nr Stockwell, but it missed! Thankfully no ice on the A roads, but I was glad to get back without mishap. If the slush freezes overnight, I'll be getting the tube tomorrow.

nah

I didn't fancy it when it looked as if it was settling but it was only the sheer weight of snow, it's already turned to wet slush at worse, just wet where the traffic is, which I take to be not freezing (yet), I've got big main roads nearly all the way home

tomorrow is very likely to be another matter though

E16 to E6 is an absolute standstill, I could not cycle so had to walk the bike home and in the process rip my Endura overshoes to shreds where the ice tore the bottom apart.

Sods law I had booked annual leave today but had to go in for a project meeting typical. !!!!

Chiswick, Victoria, Charing Cross, London Bridge, Lewisham, Catford Bridge, oh sod it, Bromley Hill and home. 22 miles or thereabouts. Ice in the gutter. Ice in the middle. Took 3 hrs 15 mins, which is a good 2 hours longer than usual.

Worst bit of riding all year. BRRRrrrrrr!!!!

I drove home last night, wood lane to chislehurst (west london, to north west kent for all those outside London), took me...wait for it.

...FIVE HOURS!!:ohmy::angry::smile::angry::biggrin:

rolled onto my drive at 10.20pm and was shattered, 4mph average, with a 2.5 hour standstill/1mph crawl in brockley where I watched 2 films ...so glad my sat-nav has a dvd player!!!

To add insult to injury, my car is a really jumpy automatic that wants to "tear off" all the time and so just kept spinning and spinning every time I came to a stop and had to start. I ended up toe and heeling for miles and miles, just to pull away slowly....thinkmay have killed the gearbox!

Cycled in today but pushed Chitty out of my road as it is still thick with ice and slush, forgot my shoe was an open sole SPD and got wet feet before I even got on her!!!!!

20 miles with cold wet feet (despite my toasty overshoes).

not really looking forward to tonight if I'm honest
