Me and three mates (yes, I actually have that many) are off to France tomorrow for a three day charity ride from Caen to Beaune. We were supposed to be on the Portsmouth - Caen overnight tomorrow but due to the strike on Brittany ferries we're now leaving in the morning, driving up this side of the channel to Dover then back down the French side to Caen for the start on Thursday morning. At least we'll get a lie in instead of being woken up by loud classical guitar music coming out of the cabin speaker at 4.30am.

Well despite the best efforts of Brittany Ferries to bugger things up we had a good trip. First time I've ridden in the Burgundy region and thought it was very nice. Apart from me sliding out on a wet roundabout and sustaining some minor road rash on the first day it all went without a hitch. We finished at the Chateau de Meursault where a wine tasting was laid on but at 500 quid a case I don't think there were many (any) sold. The team sponsored by the Flak Manor brewery attracted a sizeable crowd though as they were dishing out free pints of Double Drop.
Typically, Brittany Ferries settle the despute the day we get back.
