Purveyor of fine nonsense
A guy who I've posted about before, DIY enthusiast, always drilling and banging, etc. Same chap who's piled soil up straight against his other neighbour's wooden fence (he's used the fence to make one side of a raised bed) and it's already starting to buckle.
I didn't think it was possible for him to surpass himself ... but I was wrong! He has bought a set of patio doors "I gots 'em proper cheap off EBay. No need to pay full price, that's a mug's game!" (his words). "Oh yes? I see ..."
He went right ahead and sledge-hammered the old doors clean out of the very wide aperture without a care in the world, didn't check to see if the lintel would need supporting! I cringed and feared for the structure of my own house and asked him if he'd better not check first. "No need!" he said. "Oh dear. Help ..."
He then fitted the new doors (well, I say "fitted", I mean walloped them into the hole with brute force ... ) So then they got jammed in the hole at a rakish angle and wouldn't open, plus he cracked the frame.
Today the builder turned up, it seems they've been knackered so a new set will be required (at full-price, naturally). The builder's words were along the lines of [a] "why did you take the old ones out they were perfectly good", "Let's a get a new set that are the correct size for the aperture, shall we?" and [c] "Those flags won't stay put, you need to put sand in with the cement to make mortar".
I now live in fear of the next thing he'll do and whether or not it will damage the party wall, or the garden wall, or cause an exposion, etc ...
