Following a break of 14 years or so, I got the bike repaired and went out this afternoon for a 20 miler. Two questions if I may -
the first is can anyone suggest a comfy saddle, as I think the old one is past it, judging by the throbbing I am currently experiencing.
Secondly, how do people find fellow road users ? This afternoon I found the HGV drivers, bus drivers and motorcyclists to be excellent and very polite. BMW especially X5 and X3 drivers seem to think you have no business on the road and are intent to run you off it. Anyone have any similar experiences ?

Regarding the comfort, I think you would have suffered whichever seat you were using after doing a 20 miler following a break of 14 years.
The seat may be in need of replacement, but try breaking in seat and your body gently with a few shorter trips before simply blaming the seat. I just bought a new seat last week, a Specialised Toupe Sport, and the shop offered to change it if I found it unsuitable and returned it promptly with receipt and packaging, so ask before you buy..
In general I share your opinion regarding the 'good' road users:smile:.

It's the smaller cars, Toyota Yaris etc, which tend to pass me uncomfortably close...and Audi drivers! As for the saddle issue...I've had an ISM Adamo Road for a few weeks and I'm a complete convert. It was pricey but my soft pink parts are still soft and pink

For us on the Sustrans cycle path today it was stupid ignorant bad mannered and for a few dog owning cyclists that were the huge problem.
