Oh the joys of owning classic vehicles.

My Capri is still off the road after the crash because I'm waiting for a repair piece to fix the rear spring hanger.

A fork seal has gone on my 750 Yamaha and it is p*ssing oil out:sad:

I thought I'd stick my MZ 250 back together with it's replace piston/rings but I've been sent the wrong base gasket:angry:

So I thought I'd do a bit of work on the H van:smile: And I've just found a major new patch of rust which will require taking the windscreen out and making a new surround panel:sad:

Oh the joys................

The effort will be worth it when they are all fixed, and you can once again cruise around thinking your still in the 70's:biggrin: I saw a capri today actually, looked a bit of a shed though:sad:

I resent buying new cars when older ones are perfectly up the to the job but once a car needs more time spent on fixing it than is spent driving it the thing goes in the bin.

I'm afraid the H is even testing my enthusiasum to fix it:sad:

I know they are all rusty but mine is getting to the stage where I might have to admit defeat:sad::smile::sad:

oh dear hilldodger I fear you will find me very harsh, and highly elitist, for I'm certain that you are making the classic (boom boom) mistake of confusing old(er) vehicles with classic ones. If it had no pedigree, no particial place in the technological history of the marque, and was a piece of mass produced garbage when it was new it ain't a thoroughbred 30+ years later. Similarly 'last man standing' doesn't count either, the owner of the last Morris Marina or Austin Allegro on planet earth will no more own a classic than the buyer of the first one on the day after the launch did.

But then I'm a recovering petrolhead so I would say that wouldn't I? Hope you beg steal borrow or re manufacture the parts needed asap and get them back on the road where they belong.

I don't think you should talk about Allegro's and Marina's in a post about Citroen H vans! an iconic French vehicle if ever there was one and certainly not 'mass produced garbage'

And the Capri - mass produced, yes, garbage no.

Nowaday, 'classic' has become the accepted term for vehicles from the 50/60/70's - good and bad.

Oh, and in the past I've owned such cars as a 1930 1 1/2 litre Aston Martin:thumbsup:

Stick with it - it all evens out. My classic MG now rusts less than my "new" Merc does. Progress eh.

The Capri is an all time classic British Muscle car, love them.

You might, at a push, get away with that for the 2.8i, but the 1.6 brings to mind words like "rice" and "pudding" and "skin pull".
