You realise, once you know stuff about cars, the 2.8 had about 150 bhp, so not quite as awesome as you thought as a kid. Still, I liked 'em, my dad had a MK2, and a cycling mate had a Mk3 2.0 - he used to swear that the bag of sand in the back improved the handling...... He had it years, didn't look after it, and it eventually fell to bits....

You might, at a push, get away with that for the 2.8i, but the 1.6 brings to mind words like "rice" and "pudding" and "skin pull".

Ha ha, yeah :0) I liked the styling of most of the Fords of that era but calling the Capri a muscle-car is a bit of a joke. Styled after an American muscle-car maybe but they were pretty gutless. Did they not make a 1.3 version?

My mate had a MkII 1.6 Ghia Escort, lovely car.

Sure they had no baws, but still as close to a muscle car as anything else that came out og the UK. Was it the laser that was the top of the range model, I remeber a guy along the street having one... tiger skin seats too... class :hungry:

life is full of surprises. Hitherto Hilldodger (we've never met) had always struck me as the Basil Rathbone, or Peter Cushing type...

henceforth I shall imagine him in a Courreges style all-in-one

True, but that's like saying the white pencil in your drawer is closer to a Saturn V rocket than any of the other pencils in your drawer!

It's not a muscle-car, end off. Muscle-car, the clue is in the name ;0)

Bristol 406. I saw one the other day. It was tiny.

Of course, there are those that should never be spoken of (viewers of a nervous or refined disposition should look away now........)

I seem to recall that the PI Triumphs were faster than the Capris?

Jensen Intercepter is more muscley for me too.

But not actual muscle cars.
