Living Legend & Old Fart
Just been looking at a new site http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/ with photos from about 1919 to 1953. There is only one of my home town taken in 1927 many years before I was born. Took me a while to find my bearings, the photo centres on the cable works which employed over 70,000 people in its hey day. I found the house where I was born, my primary school, Lizzie Mawdsley's sweet shop and a few more locations.

Oh my! I think my old house is in that - the group of houses in the extreme top left hand corner (not on the hill)!

High Mains Avenue - we lived in a cul de sac and I think it is there as the end of the houses before they extended the building out into the fields to the right. High Mains Avenue now runs to the same length as the fully built Geils Quadrant, running parallel directly below in the picture.

There is a white blob just above the house I lived in:

One of the photographs stopped just short of my house which was built around about that time so it would have been interesting to see whether it had been built or in the process of being built!
