Anybody else use anything old? I love old kit, I clean the house with one of these electrolux machines, have a 40 year old Black and Decker lawn mower which still gives loyal service, and today I have just picked up an old Hoover twintub, just tried it and it does an amazing job - quickly!!

I don`t know if it`s nostalgia, but I find all this old kit lovely to use, and it does a superb job!

I have a 13 year old Miele washing machine at home (it's great).
Seems antiquated compared to what I'm using at the moment, a Samsung digital job that plays me a little tune when the wash is done.
Had to google instructions to switch it on
are they in Metric ?
I have some "Britool" stuff that I believe are from the 50s, AF and BA, the stuff seems indestructible, the AF stuff often gets hammered on to rounded metric stuff, It amazes me the quality of the stuff. there is a alot of cheap modern tools that are just junk, bloody dangerous if they breaks under load.
A mix of metric and af, my 1/4 drive ratchet refuses to wear out.

Our Hitachi fridge/freezer is over 35yrs old, still works fine (and it is a frost-free freezer with a 3star and a bigger star rating) but my 2 QUAD 303 poweramps are 1967 models one of which was built in 1970 the other in 72.

My Meile vacuum must be 20 years old... and it sucks far better than my old Dyson.

My old gas cooker has just died on me though... or partially died. It needs a new thermocouple but can't find anyone to fit it for less than the cost of a new cooker. Can't find a new one with a decent eye level grill and don't see the point of thigh level grills... so ideally, i want my old cooker to work again. On the upside, not having a working oven has forced me to start cooking soups and stews and chilli again.

Recently had to repair a Quad 33 preamp and tuner for a member of staff where I work. He highly rates the stuff.

I think, from memory, his kit was from around 1972 from component date codes.
