Afternoon all..

So, I picked up an old Bianchi Brevetto Speciale (pics attached)

It suffers from old age and the my main desires are to repair/ replace...
1) Wheels - chrome rims rusty and reached end of like - would like to replace
2) Brakes - springs pretty tired - new cantlilevers would need mud guard clearance
3) Seat - shot
4) Cranks/ bottom bracket if required. One crank slightly bent (possible visit to a vice might sort?)
5) Is this old beauty skip worthy or worth some love? Any idea of ££ required to get it a) fun(c)tional and b) looking like new - obvs I'm asking how long a piece of string is - but ball park figures would all help!

Can anyone recommend any sites/ links/ (London) shops that might help me get started?

Cheers and thanks..
Safe riding..

James

You can't fit a cantilever brake as there aren't any bosses on the fork on your pic to take the mechs. Restorations of old bikes can easily eat pennies up - a respray will likely set you back £100-150 for a start. You'll need to check wheel sizes as well - old sizes can be hard to get

The only reason for taking this on is as a learning project to develop your workshop skills. Worth doing if you can get parts from e-bay or similar relatively cheaply.
