Yes, that much I figured out, but what I can't figure out is the following equation:

Penny-farthing has stopped, so ...

big wheel + no momentum + legs miles from the ground = incredible pain

Surely?!!

You either do a track stand - which really annoys the roadies:biggrin: - or you step off the back. Last time I rode across London from Highbury to Buck House and then down to Greenwich and back to Highbury, I had to get on/off 52 times.

Made my knees hurt a bit:sad:

If I tried to ride a Penny-Farthing, I can just see this happening:

You're asking a bloke who rides a full size Penny in Victorian costume that?

There's a Victorian day every year in some market town I heard my Aunt saying about: forgotten the town though. Ever been to it?

I'm getting an old bike on Sunday, thought it may be 1920's, but there are some 1910 bikes online that look more modern than it, so maybe it's Victorian? I hope so, cos it would be great to go to that event with a bike of the period (though it is a bit rusty!). Would like to try a Penny Farthing one day, not for a long distance though as I think the term "Taking a header" was coined from falling off them!:birthday:
