I've got a pretty old set of Cantis which are in excellent condition except that I need new brake blocks for them.
When I say old I suspect around about 15-20 years old, maybe more. they take a post-type brake block.
Will modern post-type brake blocks fit?
Do higher priced brake blocks offer anything particularly special? No squeaking, faster braking, less rim wear, longer lasting?
What is your recommendation for a good value set of brake blocks (I won't spend more than £30 a pair, and I rather not be anywhere near that)?

use the non-threaded posts. I've used Koolstop Eagle II Dual compound pads on mine and they are thoroughly excellent in all the respects you mention above. If on a budget the disco brakes ones are not at all bad but wear out quicker than Koolstops. £/mile they probably come out better though.
