I have these transfers I found many years ago in my grandfather's belongings, he never owned a bike in my lifetime but I have a photo of him riding an old rodbraked roadster that could have been a Hercules dating from possibly 50s. I'm wondering if I should put them on a Rudge I have, only the dealer transfer that is ,one appears to be a waterslide transfer the other a self adhesive one does anyone know if waterslide type ones were common back then and what's the best way to put them on .

Yes, water slide were common, trouble is, they can be fragile after 70 years, so make sure you have a record, including dimensions. Basically, the clue to applying is in the name, soak until the adhesive softens then slide into place, blot dry and there you are.

Great, cheers I shall give it a go.
If it works and 10-20 years down the line no one will know if it's original or not, so it just goes to show ,never assume anything about the provenance of a bike.

They are similar in their use to the transfers/decals used on Airfix models and the like.
