Just joined for a bit of cycle chat. I'm currently laid up with a broken T4 vertebrae and can't cycle which is most annoying as I've been working hard throughout the winter months to increase my fitness for some serious cycling this year. I started cycling again 14 months ago after giving it up around 1990. I was in need of some exercise and had also gained a few pounds (like most of us do over the years) so decided to do something about it. I've managed to loose the weight and get the fitness up and now I'm under doctors orders not to cycle for the next few weeks

Sorry to hear you're laid up....I'm sure you'll be back on the bike in time for the Scottish summer, which this year is forecast to run from June 28th until July 3rd

Thanks for the welcomes etc.

Glad to say the fractured T4 was not caused by any cycling incidents and the doctor has decided to investigate further as to the cause as these fractures are typically caused by high-velocity accidents, such as a car crash or fall from height, neither of which happened to me. So it looks like I will be having lots of tests done and my first one is blood tests next week, followed by scans and bone density tests, could be a long haul as they say.

Sorry to hear you can't cycle while we are having our 2 days of summer
Plenty to keep you entertained on these fora, be aware we might suggest a bike related purchase ... or two

Haha Pat, last thing I need is another bike, I'm in plenty hot water with the eight I already have.
