"Old" TV stuff

Tonight I have enjoyed watching Morecambe and Wise Live show from 1973 and currently watching "The Plank" with Tommy Cooper and Eric Sykes.

Neither were/are hugely funny but I am thoroughly enjoying them.

It got me thinking about other "old stuff" - Tarzan movies, Abbot and Costello, Laurel and Hardy - which are rarely, if ever, on TV nowadays but which were standard fare in the late 70s/early 80s. And I think the TV world is a sadder place as a result.

Yours, a sad old bugger.

and you have also gained another point on me in the football thing [/QUOTE]

I had my first ever online bet today on the Rangers v. Dundee United match. I was convinced I was going to be right; I was not. But I suppose the 150-1 odds should have been a warning to me that 5-0 to United was not going to be a winner

But on the plus side I also put a few quid on Cancellara winning Paris - Roubaix which will cover my losses (if he wins, which he will...he will. Won't he?)

The only TV from the '70s I really miss was The Sweeney...dananaah.....dananaaah...dun-dun-dun-dananaaah-nanaaah dananaaah...dananaaah...dun-dun-danana-na-na-nananah

The thing I remember most about the Sweeney is the different start and end music. I never really watched it as I was not allowed to stay up late and it was deemed to be too "adult" by my parents...but it seems to stick in my head probably from not watching it but hearing the 'forbidden' music from my bedroom
