Course likely too flat for Pooley - Kristin Armstrong or Judith Arndt I'd guess. Apparently TT's are not Vos' speciality (relatively speaking).

The women today can be very thankful that Beryl wasn't part of this generation, she was absolutely untouchable, a good friend of ours used to race against her so we have heard many accounts of the famous lady. As for the TT tomorrow, really not sure about this, I don't think it will suit Emma because it is too flat. I hope Lizzie can do something but is a relative unknown in TT's, therefore it will probably go to form and should be between Arndt, Vos and Armstrong contending the medals. I haven't seen the course, apart from hearing it is flat, if it is technical or wet then I favour Vos to do the double otherwise I have a feeling that Armstrong having recently had a baby could well win this one.

I don't know enough about the contenders to make an informed comment but those who know seem to be saying Kristin Armstrong will be hard to beat, even though she's had an indifferent season.

However, I thought Emma Pooley looked in great shape in the road race and I'll really be willing her on. Allez Emma!

I thought Pooley looked like yer archetypal killer gnome, a la Pantani/Rujano. A climber rather than a time triallist. Is the women's penelton less specialised or is she just unusual in that respect?

...and like most of us, I know very little about womens racing!

She's naturally good at climbing because she's so tiny (48kg!) but she's a time trial specialist - and twice national TT champion.

Well, yes, but that would be a very unusual combination in the mens peloton. I was wondering if that is a reflection of the women's peloton or is she just a freak (in the nicest possible sense)?
