It's a bit more complicated than that...
We saw the Vixen at Glyndebourne a month or two back. I remember seeing Macropoulos in Oxford *mumblety* years ago - this is the first time I've heard any of it ever since. Janacek is one of those eccentric one-of-a-kind composers who are gloriously themselves, a bit like (dragging things hastily back on track) Wiggins. Froome is more of a boringly efficient and dour Mahler, Cav a fizzing Liszt - tiring in big doses but occasionally brilliant and original.Nice one......Janacek. Worth a listen.
