Scary moment this morning
I just need to vent a bit.
This week I have been taking my TT bike to work and had a hair raising moment half a mile from my destination.
The road (B676) isn't really that busy, but those who do use it tend to go very fast. Anyway, I was heading eastbound down a slight hill with a minor crossroads at the bottom and moved into the middle to be seen better by anyone thinking of turning in front of me and also vaguely aware of a lorry coming up somewhere behind. Just at the bottom I heard a horn and the lorry get even closer but I thought sod that as we were coming up to a 30 limit and I was doing 56kmh/34mph. Another 10 seconds and the horn sounds again so I moved over as we started going up the incline. I was given less than 4 feet of space between the gravelly edge of the road and the lorry. Chased him up the hill in view of his mirrors and kept up until he noticed me then accelerated.
I think was more annoyed afterwards, but the idea of being forced towards gravel without as much control as I would like with the potential to fall and go under the wheels was concerning at the time.
Could I have approached it any differently? I didn't take his numberplate or note the company which was amateurish. Commuting on the TT bike in Lincolnshire might stop as I have certainly felt for a while that they are worse drivers than in Norfolk.
