These places are nowhere. They're not near the coast, near a city, the only reason that people live there is that there was once something for them to do. In this case dig coal out of the ground.

They still live there because they were born there, the ones with half a brain leave. No one else in their right mind would move there so you're left with a small bunch of people stuck in this armpit with nothing left to do but sh** each other! ;0)

And sing apparently...

Press are picking up that she is a spinster and as she said on the show "never been kissed" so perhaps she just stuck to the singing.

I was amazed, she is younger than me and looks like an old granny. She came across as a bit thick too in the opening chat but may just be nerves.
Problem is now she has surprised everyone she is just an ugly singer. Perhaps we will get a transformation on the show.

I must try to get out more.

I read that one of the tassels came off - hence the censoring.

That would explain-
Ant (or is that one Dec) came on and picked up her hat and gave it to her. Gesturing to cover herself up with it. I thought it was a bit pointless covering just one up but I guess it was for the tassle free one.
She took the hat and put it on her head.

Having seen the still pictures of what was under the union jacks I think I am pleased it was censored.

Wifey has little AA cup ones so I miss out on the ampleness. But on reflection I am happy with the perky little AA's

It was a good show tonight, just stick with it though... Susan Boyle has competition.

'Rich on other people's talent' Cowell's cash-register eyes were ringing when the 12 year old lad came on.
Absolutely, love him or hate him, he knows his onions.

I notice the crowd also knew the kid was good, and grudgingly I accept it was Cowell that suggested changing the song, which had a good effect. Seemed a little 'rehearsed', no?

Also, if it is a one off talent show, 'now's your chance', where do they get all the sound-bites and photos from? Or do they interview the 'good ones' afterwards to fill out the show and add to the suspence?

probably because its same as X factor, when you go through about 3 auditions before you even get to the judges. by which time they know who the good, the bad and ugly are and have plenty of dirt on them.

Thanks for the link.
Watching it again I'm still amazed by the look on the judges and audiences faces... I pray she does well.
I hate to be the one to tell you this - but I'm pretty sure that the Noddy shots are pasted in afterwards. There's too much chiaroscuro (and too much vanity). Check the contrast with the long shots of the judges.

If you've read Ben Elton's 'Chart Throb' you'll be completely cynical about anything that happens in any of those talent shows. In his fictional X factor programme candidates are selected according to meeting criteria for being 'mingers, blingers and clingers', everything is pre-planned and pre-recorded as far as possible, with votes manipulated and people kept in or thrown out solely on whether they make 'good TV'...

Didn't it just seem rehearsed? There's no way even he'd have got away with that if it'd been genuine as imagine if the kid had been rubbish after he'd come out with that one!

And that! He's (almost certainly) got it spot on there. Also, we haven't had the tragic weepy one so far this series. They're probably saving that one up for dramatic reasons.
