i reckon he sang the second one in an earlier audition and Cowell was expecting that one, and was a bit surprised when he did the Amy Whitehouse song. that's why he asked for the other one.

I hate to be the one to tell you this - but I'm pretty sure that the Noddy shots are pasted in afterwards. There's too much chiaroscuro (and too much vanity). Check the contrast with the long shots of the judges.

Spoilsport, some of us want to believe the magic...
