They should think about it more, 12 points should be it, it's more than enough. If you lose your licence, well you should have known better.

He was already disqualified when he hit the police car. No point in taking his licence away, he doesn't think he needs one. I'd recommend botox injections in the arm nerves. That would stop him driving for a while!

I usually think most people banned from driving should have their car taken away and crushed / auctioned off / looked after nicely until they get their licence back* but in this case even that'd have zero effect.

Why can't we at least agree that driving is a privilege? And the public transport system in the UK is quite good. This privilege should be revoked permanently for some offences, and this is clearly one of them.

Well, driving *is* a privilege seeing as you have to be licenced to do it.

To be fair, I don't think any amount of licence revoking is going to stop some people getting behind the wheel, especially those who are too young to drive, or those who have never been licenced in the first place.

There are exceptions, but those who are driving 'their own' car unlicenced (as opposed to twoc etc.) tend to be driving hundred quid shitters rather than actual decent motors, and often these cars have mechanical defects. After all, someone driving on no licence is hardly likely to be bothing to MOT it (lets not talk about tax or insurance...). I digress

Anyway, you crush their car, they buy another hundred quid shitter from a bloke in the pub and off they go again.

Wasn't the car in the linked article stolen? A bit harsh on the owner then, to crush it (although it was probably written off in the impact).

That poor little lad was probably sat in his garden sunning himself when he was suddenly transported magically into said car and like so many video games just had to keep driving or it'd blow up & besides nobody ever gets killed!!! Just like that naughty policeman who just got up and chased him.

If they started to get real sentences like 5/10 years and serve the whole of it and without all the mollycoddling they get these days, then they might start to think twice They make me so angry both the perpetrators and then the namby pamby judges who slap their wrists negating the hard work put in by the police and then prison/probation staff.
