I tend to ride with my mouth open to catch those pesky little flies that hit the back of your throat when you are gasping for air sending you into fits of coughing.

I keep a couple of chocolate bar type things (Rocky, Twix etc) and a baggy of jelly babies in my jersey pocket.

Yes, but to utilise a Twix in the same insane style as Soreen Guy, you'd have to push it down the seat post tube and consume it as a suppository.

My cycling companions are very fond of Jaffa cakes so when we did a sponsored ride last year one of them suggested we got t shirts printed with team Jaffa on them......until I told him that a Jaffa is a slang term for a man who is sterile. (Seedless)

Obviously no one likes the gels..Is there any reasons ?
They're messy, taste like crap and are overpriced sugar designed for knocking back more frequently during a ride. Jelly sweets are cheaper and taste better, cakey things give more sustained energy i believe  I use gels/sugar pills for running races sometimes where you dont want to stop, but I think most people on a normal bike ride just stop for 2mins to eat real food
