Ah right..like yourself I do use em when out running...but I have been known to use em whilst out on the bike don't really go that far to be honest to require a gel..:blush:

I used to take gels when I did less purely for the mental boost if I needed it. Nothing wrong with that. Also now I do 70's almost every weekend, my body seems to need far less than it did before. I think just listening to your body is the key.

Agree with you needing less the fitter you get..The amount of runners I see at 10k or 10 mile race's using gels you just do not need them over that distance..if you have fueled up correctly before and you are
hydrated there should be no need for gels over that distance..

I take a handfull of winegums with me to chew on and sometimes a cereal type or chocolate bar.
But my favourite 'on-bike' feed is a peanut butter & jam sandwich.

Is knocking back far more sugar than would be considered your rda not bad for you? Or does the exercise cancel it out?

You'll be using a lot as you ride. Don't worry about it.

Lord. I wish I had the TIME to do a 70 every weekend. I presume you mean miles.
