Hiya , whilst suffering with the lurgy this week , I took to watching old and as yet un watched CD's , I bought On yer Bike last November , but never got to watch as working away a lot , anyway got me Ovaltine and full lurgy defence meds ,switched the telly to CD mode and settled back , the short films and safety awareness stuff brought back floods of memories of the 50's , clothing , cars ,steam loco's even saw a trolley bus in one ! , I'd say they were shown at the old kids Saturday Matinees and between A and B films at the old style Picture Houses, one in particular , a CTC production from the mid 50's was of particular interest , a proper hey day for cyclists , inter city trains with a carriage dedicated to carrying bikes , rationing must have passed because they were enjoying food on the train and pub lunch's , the lanes they rode around Kenilworth appeared to be motor vehicle free .something we can only dream of now !
Also a Prof Moulton OU production of his train of thought and prototypes through to the development of his small wheeled bikes , plus some films of mass bike manufacturing , and small frame builders st work , quite interesting , some of the films were daft , but hey , made the afternoon more pleasurable for sure
