TdF podcasts. Wish they were a bit longer though. I know yesterday's was a rest day, but the show was over before it had started!

I've taken all the music off my mp3 player now. For some reason, stuff I'd chosen to put on it wasn't as enjoyable as listening to the radio and seeing what the presenter put on the playlist for that day. Spontaneity over predictability for me!

... and you can always jump station using the presets.

There are plenty of indie and unsigned music podcasts out there where you never know what you'll get next, and you'll not have heard of the artists either. But be assured, they're all bloody good ! Always worth a try... especially the one in my sig

I have about 35 gigabytes of music on mine. Much of it was put there by a previous owner, and I haven't heard all of it yet. I usually put it on shuffle and just see what turns up. Some days I'm skipping over every other track because I don't like it; other days it's solid gold stuff all the way home.

It's like listening to the radio but without the annoying chatter or adverts.

On Sunday's ride, it was all so good, I checked back over it and made a list when I got home:

  • Absolute Trombone: Bone Appetit (only trombonists have this on their mp3s)
  • James Taylor: Everybody has the Blues (the piano lick between the first verse and chorus is inevitable and the only possible thing that could fill that gap. I had to listen to that bit three times).
  • Billy Joel: Piano Man. (Timeless classic.)
  • Sinatra: Fly Me to the Moon. (I don't like his singing much either, but Quincy's arrangements are masterpieces)
  • Harry Connick: Sunny Side of the Street. (It should be illegal for one man, especially one so young, to be so outrageously talented).
  • Jools Holland band: High Street.
  • ZZ Top: Master of Sparks (they may have all the gimmicks, but these guys are top class musicians with it)
  • Grease Soundtrack: Freddy My Love (;) Did several tours of duty in pit orchestras playing for "Grease" - well you have to study the music...)
  • Ry Cooder: Get Rhythm

Then I got home. Almost set out again, just to see what it would come up with next...

Staying out for the Summer, what a great track, I must add it to my collection.

I've got allsorts, Eminem, NWA, Harry Chapin, some of the old Electro streetsounds stuff, plenty of Indie, Bruce Springsteen, Albert Collins, Hedkandi, Don McLean, Counting Crows, BRM, Massive Attack... Oh, you're probably bored silly now.

A few episodes of The Mighty Boosh radio shows too - I never seem to tire of those!

I love my iPod.

I have my entire music collection on mine (5,570 tracks), plus a whole bunch of Radio 4 stuff (Just A Minute, Afternoon Plays, etc).

It's a 160Gb iPod, so a bit of room for expansion yet. :-)
