Paris to Roubaix seems to be a popular ride ^_^

I guess it all depends on what part of France you are going to? I know a few good routes in Brittany, but it's very hilly.

A really nice days riding is to do Newhaven-Dieppe. Ride up to the river valley to Saint-Saens or use the Avenue Verte if you haven't ridden in France before. Then across the ridge and down another river valley through Auffray. It means taking a night ferries but an evening in Dieppe can be very pleasant (unlike Newhaven). It is a nice ride down to Newhaven if you are starting in London/Kent/Surrey/Sussex or you can take the train (book to Newhaven Town. It is right beside the ferry terminal - unlike Harbour or Maritime!).

Do you prefer roads or cycle paths. Flat or hilly? What are looking for 30 or 60 miles?
We are talking Dieppe?

A good day's ride for another time is to take the night ferry to Caen and then ride along the coastal roads up the Manche Peninsula to Cherbourg and then take the ferry back to the UK in the late afternoon.

About 90-100 miles as I remember .

You didn't like the suggestions in your other thread? https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/one-day-in-france.180958/
@xxmimixx , you might like to post up in the CC Informal Rides sub-forum as well, as I'm sure you'll get loads of route suggestions there as well.

Is this a CycleChat ride then?
:ohmy:
I see a comma in the sub-forum name, i.e. this is the place for (a) CycleChat rides, (b) Recreational rides, and (c) Other rides. @xxmimixx 's query certainly is (b) or (c) if not (a), which seems a better fit than "Touring and Expedition" where the other thread is.
Or have I misunderstood @Shaun 's re-classifications? :sad:

@xxmimixx a couple of thoughts.
I've driven around Brittany and Normandy, and stopped at many WWI & II sites. It was a moving experience. Possibly something you could take in as part of your ride?
If you are worried about winds, try http://weatherbagel.com. Plot out your planned journey on a site like RideWithGPS, then export the gpx file and upload it to weatherbagel. Tell it your starting time, and estimated speed and it will tell you temperature, rain and wind all the way around the route. If you have several options, doing this the night before may indicate which will be the best one on the day.

I went - I saw - I rode
Outstanding views. Did the Wiggle French Revolution course, it was a little hilly, nothing serious but jsut long drags made worse by almost 30mph winds :eek: - not even southerly! But thoroughly enjoyed the day and route, would highly recommend it to anyone :-)

Going to plan another ride to Ypres in August :-)
