Eww... That's not good! I'd probably take it apart and rinse the silicon membrane and keys under the tap.. Then leave it in the airing cupboard for a few hours.

Nip down to PC World and buy a new one?

Failing that - take a photo of the keyboard to remind where to put the key caps back afterwards, then lever off all the key caps and carefully clean the soup out. If it has penetrated into the guts of the keyboard then you might as well try cleaning inside as well, then prop it up somewhere warm for any residual liquid to drain out and to let it dry. (After an hour, when it still doesn't work ... nip down to PC World and buy a new one!)

If for any reason you had sugar in the mix then don't bother even tying to clean it.
Otherwise rinse out and leave to drain and dry it might work, for a while.......
What is the best way to clean a rather substantial amount of (homemeade and rather chunky) hot leek and potato soup from a keyboard

If someone could answer quite quickly that would help:blush:
That is uncanny my youngest made that same soup for us on saturday,it was superb.

Unplug it straight away. Clean it with just water. Leave it to dry for 24-48hrs until you know it's 100% dry. Plug it in and hope.

ooops. I spilt lemonade on my new laptop last week . I just left it upside down to dry and its king ok now

Except your F, U and C don't seem to work.

I spilt beer on my laptop last year, and we had to take the keyboard out and wash it several times in running water to get all the keys working again.

I was speaking to a (different) friend on the phone a few years back when he responded to what I had asked him with a question of his own, which was "What do you do if you get red wine in a Macbook?"

I asked what that had to do with my question and he replied that it had nothing to do with it, but his Macbook started making a fizzing noise just then after he spilled red wine into it. Oh, and the screen was black except for a few random coloured lines ...

(He pretty much had to pay the cost of a new Mac to get it fixed.)

Unless its an uber high tech gaming one with millions of 'extras', go buy a new one. A lot less hassle, for not a great deal of money. You could spend days taking it apart and cleaning it, and find it still doesn't work.
I have picked off the chunky bits, wiped away most of the liquid..........then took it upstairs and swapped it for another from the store cupboard of a different team.
Loving your style! ;)

Nip down the council tip and get a second-hand keyboard for nowt. There's loads of them next to the Tv and monitors graveyard.
