This time next week I'll be on my way to Manchester Airport to fly to Seattle with my bike for a long ride. I like to think that I am being pretty relaxed about it but my weird anxiety dreams say otherwise:

  • An inability to procure gourmet samosas for my kilt wearing friends.
  • SInging the lead role in My Fair Lady despite not knowing the words.
  • Fighting Jihadists.
  • Sitting on top of a rock pinnacle in total darkness and listening to waves crashing against its base.
  • Fighting a bear.

There's not a lot of prep left to do so I'm going to distract myself with visits to pie shops and fine ale purveyors in the remaining time.

There is, of course, a blog to peruse. It's a work in progress and is light on content at this stage.

I am to going update it until I get eaten by a bear.

In some bizarre twist your dreams seem to be reflecting exactly what happened to me last week.

Shape up Vern, you have responsibilities out there to sample as many different pies as possible, as many different types of ale as possible and report back.

You haven't got time to worry.

I have low expectations on the pie front and don't expect them to be met.

However, my host has arranged a welcoming BBQ

Putting together a menu for your visit.

Magic barbequed ribs .
Cajun shrimp and sausage
Local seafood (whatever is good that week)

Swill beer. - and some good Australian ale (I like it).

Any preferences in distilled spirits? (stove fuel excepted)

I like Skol

A Minging Manc...

You missed the one about suddenly realising you are completely naked amidst a crowd of strangers......

That's a great looking blog @vernon

Good luck with your tour. Have you got a bell for your bike? Just so you don't surprise anything in the mountains!

You'll heave a sigh of relief when the bear corners you, puts his paws on your shoulders, opens his mouth and says...
"Dad!"
The fighting Jihadists bit was probably a dream involving you, a mirror, and a face full of shaving foam.
Just don't get into a fight at the 'Witches of Salem' alehouse in Seattle, otherwise you might find your self striking a happy medium. Apart from that - look out for flying Gates if you see the Microsoft plane at the airport.
Have a lovely trip, Vernon.
